Conquering the Macocha Abyss – Talk by Petr Kostrhun

On Sunday, 12 March 2017 at 4 p.m. at the Moravian Karst Nature House at Skalní mlýn, historian Petr Kostrhun will give a talk about the conquest of the Macocha Abyss floor. The young student Karel Absolon and his colleagues, without the technical means we have today, made remarkable discoveries.

The captivating account of the first expeditions to the bottom of the abyss is sure to fascinate you. You will also hear intriguing details from the previously unknown diaries of members of Absolon’s expeditions. A clip from the historical film “The Secret of Macocha” will be screened, and the speaker will share details about how it was made.
