Barrier-Free Routes in Moravian Karst

You can explore the beauty of Moravian Karst even if you're travelling by wheelchair or with a pushchair. Our hotel has a sloped access path (pushchairs can be stored in the entrance hall at reception), so the restaurant and toilet are fully accessible. Our tourist trains, which run between Skalní mlýn and Punkva Caves, are also fully barrier-free.

Without any restrictions, wheelchair users, cyclists and parents with prams can also use the cable car – both stations are barrier-free. On the side of the lower cable car station there is a 2-metre-wide, 7-metre-long steel ramp, and next to it a special lift platform for wheelchair users, which can raise them up to two metres without any difficulty.

Which caves offer barrier-free access? 

► Výpustek Cave – almost the entire tour route is accessible by pushchair and manual wheelchair (with assistance).
► Punkva Caves, Sloup-Šošůvka Caves – part of the route is accessible for wheelchair users, but due to the steep slope of the ramp, an escort is required. For small children, a baby carrier or backpack is recommended.

Please note that it is always advisable to notify the cave in advance if a wheelchair user is visiting, so that the guide can prepare accordingly. More information is available at this page. At Catherine's Cave and Balcarka Cave, barrier-free access is available only in the area in front of the cave entrance. All caves have accessible toilets and disabled parking spaces.

Where else in Moravian Karst and the surrounding area can you go by wheelchair or with a pushchair? 

► Upper viewing bridge over Macocha Abyss – there are no obstacles on the path from the car park, though the surface is uneven in places.
► Moravian Karst Nature House – all exhibitions are fully accessible.
► Pustý Gorge – approximately a 9 km route between Skalní mlýn and Sloup.
► Around Olšovec Pond in Jedovnice – approximately 5 kilometres, with a mix of asphalt and compacted gravel-sand surface.
► Walk around the village of Rudice – the route passes a windmill, a geopark and the Chapel of St Barbara.
