Tourist Train and Cable Car to Punkva Caves

The modern symbols of nature conservation in Moravian Karst are the tourist train between Skalní mlýn and Punkva Caves, and the cable car to the upper viewing bridge of Macocha Abyss. By integrating them logically into the visitor flow through the most frequented part of Moravian Karst, car traffic has been successfully eliminated from this unique area. We promise your breath will be taken away as you ride the cable car up to Macocha and see just how much altitude you're gaining. Don't believe us? Come and see for yourself!

Tourist Train to Punkva Caves

Since 1993, two road train sets have been transporting visitors from the overflow car park at Skalní mlýn to Punkva Caves. Their schedule is coordinated with cave entry times – we run at regular intervals, always 20 minutes before each entry. Capacity is sufficient for groups too, and even on the busiest days you won't have to worry about missing your cave entry time. The trains are barrier-free.

Cable Car to Punkva Caves and Macocha Abyss

Since 1995, the Macocha cable car has connected Punkva Caves with the viewing bridges and Macocha Chalet near the abyss. It is considered one of the most environmentally gentle modes of transport and, placed thoughtfully within its natural setting, its value is beyond question. Over more than 30 years of operation, we have safely transported hundreds of thousands of visitors. It is an alternative for all visitors to Moravian Karst who prefer not to walk, or cannot do so. Its route passes close to limestone crags, guaranteeing an attractive view. Wheelchair users, parents with pushchairs and cyclists can all ride the cable car without any restrictions. Both the lower cable car station (near the entrance to Punkva Caves) and the upper station (close to the upper viewing bridge over Macocha Abyss) are barrier-free.
