Looking for a school trip destination? Skalní mlýn is an ideal choice, offering many different experiences all in one place. A one-day school trip can start directly at Skalní mlýn, which is easily reached by bus. We also offer programmes for two-day school trips.

One-day school trip to Moravia

We recommend starting with a visit to Moravian Karst Nature House, a modern visitor centre with an interactive indoor and outdoor exhibition and a 3D cinema, where children can discover, for example, how caves and stalactites are formed. The whole class is then taken by tourist road train from Skalní mlýn to Punkva Caves, through the picturesque landscape along the Punkva river. A tour of Punkva Caves with a boat ride is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

Afterwards, the gondola cable car can take you up to the Upper Bridge for a view into Macocha Abyss, which is 138.5 m deep. Here you can get refreshments and buy souvenirs. Don't forget to walk down to the Lower Bridge, which offers a different perspective into Macocha.

And the return to Skalní mlýn? Either back down by cable car and train, or a walk along the forest path.

Two-day school trip: Exploring Moravian Karst

A two-day school trip includes accommodation at Macocha Chalet, located near the Upper Bridge of the abyss. It also includes full board, admission to the nearby caves and additional activities such as a visit to the ropes course. A visit to Moravian Karst is also well-suited for outdoor school programmes – students explore nature directly in the field (botany, zoology, geology or the history of lime burning).
